Indian cricketer Dhawal Kulkarni is one of those players who, despite making constant noise in the domestic circuit, never really got a chance to show their mettle at the international stage. Hailing from Mumbai, Kulkarni first created waves with his performances for the U-17 team of Mumbai in the 2005-06 Vijay Merchant Trophy. It was in his first Ranji Trophy tournament that he grabbed national attention, when Kulkarni was the leading wicket-taker with 42 wickets. His impressive performances in the domestic circuit led to inclusion in the Indian Test team touring New Zealand in 2009. However, he did not play. Dhawal continued to perform and pick up wickets in domestic matches. His inability to make an impact in pitches that did not create any movement has always been held against him. This trend continued even when he played in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In recent years, he has been mostly picked to play in greener tracks. Kulkarni made his international debut against England in 2014 in an ODI. Later, he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2016. Kulkarni has so far played in 12 ODIs and two T20Is.
